Kick start the year with these three drawing lessons, starting on Valentine's Day!
This course is designed for beginners or anyone desiring a solid foundation in drawing skills. Many of the exercises are based on the techniques of Kimon Nicolaides of the Art Students' League of New York, as well as Betty Edwards book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.
Students will be surprised how quickly their skills will be improved once they learn how to really 'see'. Jan has taught this course to many beginners with great success.
Techniques covered include:
- Gesture, mass and contour drawing
- Negative and positive space
- Different ways of measuring proportions
- Tone and form
- Shading with different grades of pencils
- Creating different edge qualities
ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED, along with printed notes and complimentary morning tea.
Materials provided for use each week include pencils, paper, erasers, sharpeners and references. These all stay in the studio, but students have the option to purchase their own supplies.
The studio is air-conditioned with no steps, and has an adjoining kitchen and bathroom close by. There's also plenty of off street parking at the front of the premises.
A 3 week Learn to Paint With Watercolour course is also available on those afternoons for any students who wish to spend the entire day in the studio and gain two new skills!
